The Family Support Committee helps partnering families prepare for home ownership by guiding them through the Habitat for Humanity ownership process. Members of this committee are also responsible for providing workshops and training sessions for the homeowner, as well as serving as a friend, mentor and advocate for the homeowner.
The Family Support Committee will be responsible for:
- Managing the home owners sweat equity status
- Providing homeowner training sessions
- Assisting homeowners in making selections for home items and colors
- Helping families establish a budget and save closing funds
- Meeting regularly with the partner families
- Developing a repair punch list for items found after the family moves in
- Helping families with the moving process
- Attending the closing
- Setting up a home education session for maintaining and operating home equipment
- Continuing regular meetings after closing
Communicates with:
- Building Committee for sweat equity hours, home status and color/material selections
- Homeowners on an on going basis both before and well after closing
